Upward Scholars Supported By Local Senior Community
AnewVista Community Helping Those in Need
Redwood City, CA— May 28th, 2020 — Over 400 meals were distributed this month to Upward Scholars families. This innovative program was launched with support from local senior residents, AnewVista, Redwood City’s Veterans Memorial Senior Center, Sancho’s Taqueria and Blue Rock BBQ.
Says Linda Prieto, Executive Director of Upward Scholars - “Our students work so hard, balancing so many responsibilities to pursue their goals. During these unprecedented times with so many losing jobs and wages, even access to food is a real challenge. Our partnership with AnewVista and the drive-thru meal program helps provide a little bit of relief.”
These inaugural events helped Upward Scholars families eat nutritious meals so they could focus on pursuing their goals.
This emerging program is truly a win-win; feeding people in need, supporting local restaurants and allowing the community to contribute while staying safe at home during this time of shelter-in-place.
